Whitney Houston died unexpectedly last weekend, so we thought we would look back to the wedding dress she wore in 1992 for her wedding to Bobby Brown. Having been a couple for about three years, they married on June 18th 1992. Whitney Houston wore a slinky Lyon lace gown, which would be very fashionable at the moment, with all the lace and the long sleeves. The form-fitting dress led into a 4 ft train, and was topped with a magnificent beaded headpiece featuring floor-length beaded tulle. The wedding dress was co-designed by Diane Johnson and Marc Bouwer.
The groom was also in white in a silk, double-breasted tuxedo designed by Diane Johnson, while the bridesmaids were in purple silk floor length gowns with their own small trains. The groomsmen matched the bridesmaids in purple tuxedos.
The wedding took place in the grounds of Whitney’s house in New Jersey, decorated with thousands of lavender and purple roses and orchids. 800 guests helped them celebrate at the wedding reception, held inside a huge ballroom-sized tent in her garden. Instead of gifts, guests were asked to make a donation to the Whitney Houston Foundation For Children.
Only 48 when she died, Whitney will no doubt live on in the hearts of her fans for many years to come.
