The Chief Bridesmaid’s roles – Before the Big Day!

Your Chief Bridesmaid, also known as a Maid of honour if she is unmarried or Matron of honour if she is married, is an important feature and plays a vital role in your bridal party. Usually one of your closest or oldest friends or your sister, she has many responsibilities throughout the planning and preparation of your special day.  The Wedding Dress Factory Outlet have put together a list of some of the duties that many brides will ask of their Chief Bridesmaid prior to their wedding day.

These include:

  • Going shopping for wedding dresses and giving her honest advice when it comes to choosing her wedding gown.
  • Assisting with choosing the bridesmaid dresses. Being the Chief bridesmaid you may be given the option of wearing a slightly different gown to the rest of the ladies.
  • Helping to organise the hen night or weekend. This includes the planning and the inviting of other hens and of course ensuring it is going to be fun and memorable for the bride and everyone involved.
  • Attending wedding rehearsals
  • Being there for the bride through the up and downs and the tears and laughter that come with planning a Wedding Day.
  • You may also ask them to collect any hired items or accessories that you may have booked.

Of course it is essentially down to you as the bride whether you want them to be involved with as little or as much as possible of the preparations. Discuss this with your Chief Bridesmaid when you ask her to take on this exciting once in a lifetime opportunity, to make sure she feels she is up to the challenge!
