Deciding on where you are going to get married is one of the key priorities when planning your wedding day and is way up at the top of the to do list, alongside shopping for
wedding dresses! Locating the perfect venue is essential in achieving the day you have always dreamed of, therefore it is important to take into consideration lots of different aspects when searching for that ideal place where you say ‘I do’.
Firstly are you hoping to hold the ceremony and reception in the same place. If you do then venues are required to have a licence which enables them to hold legally binding ceremonies. Alternatively you can have your wedding ceremony conducted at a registry office or at a church and then move on to another venue for your reception.
When choosing your venue it is a good idea to draw up a wedding guest list. You want to ensure the venue is big enough and works well for your needs. By inviting people to celebrate later at the evening reception it can help your wedding budget stretch that little bit further.
For most couples they opt to get married close to home or where the bride grew up. Getting married overseas is becoming increasingly popular, and with guaranteed sunshine it is ideal if your seeking a more intimate ceremony, the guests enjoy a holiday too and the bride gets towear her wedding dress again if they throw a party on their return home.
The time of year you want to get married is another deciding factor. Summer and spring weddings are most popular, with couples hoping to be blessed with the sun shining on their special day. Many venues can cater for a winter wedding and as they are out of season you may recieve a discounted rate.
Another essential thing to consider is your theme, as it should work in harmony with the venue. If you fancy an English tea party then an intimate outdoor venue or country barn would be perfect, a grand fairytale dream would be great in a castle or stately home or a chic and contemporary wedding is ideally located at modern hotel.

Choosing to have a vintage wedding has become more popular over the past few years with a vintage inspired bride (and groom!) planning and designing their special day around an era from the past such as the art deco of the 1930′s or the rock and roll of the 1950′s.
With pastel colours and white and ivory lace wedding dresses adorned in pearls, vintage screams girly and feminine. Accessorise your wedding dress with a bird cage veil or lace head piece and opt for jewellery that dazzles with crystals or pearls.
The trend began a few years back and since then has been seen everywhere from the glossy bridal wear magazines to the ever popular wedding planning websites, therefore there are plenty of places to gain inspiration alongside your own. With many celebrities opting for the vintage look it seems there is no getting away from it!
Vintage themed weddings are affordable to all brides as you can easily adapt it to fit around your own wedding budget. Be it an intimate celebration in your own home or a grand formal wedding day, a stunning decor created with inspirational vintage accessories can be made by yourself and volunteers from your bridal party, bought online or tracked down through antique stores and car boot sales. Restoring an old typewriter, gramophone or sewing machine would work as a great focal point for your day.

Your bridal wear jewellery is an important accessory to your wedding gown. There are many options available, from different variations of metals including silvers and golds, to precious gems and stones such as cubic zirconia, Austrian and swarovski crystal and not forgetting diamonds. What you choose ultimately depends on your individual style and budget.
Many brides will take inspiration from their wedding gown when selecting their jewellery and will create a style or look around that so they work in harmony together. It is essential your jewellery does not overpower your wedding dress and works well with your other accessories, such as your veil and tiara. Other elements to consider include the type of ceremony you are having and your hairstyle. Your individual items do not necessarily have to match but they should compliment each other.
The colour of your wedding dress is also a deciding factor. If you’re having a white wedding gown then silver and white pearls would work best, whereas an ivory dress would be more suited to ivory pearls and gold or silver. A gold or champagne coloured wedding dress looks great with gold coloured jewellery. Sparkles such as diamante, crystals and diamonds work with with all types of wedding dresses.
Alternatively you may be wearing a family heirloom or something loaned to you from a friend as part of your ‘something borrowed’ or perhaps your husband to be is going to treat you to your ‘something new’ with a special item of jewellery to wear on your wedding day.
